Brianna Robinson (Soprano)

Born: August 1993 - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA

The American operatic soprano and administrative professional, Brianna Jashai Robinson, obtained her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Performance, minors in Black World Studies and Applied Piano from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio (2011-2015); and her Master of Music degree in Performance and Literature, Voice and Opera from the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester (2016-May 2018).

Brianna Robinson’s Eastman Opera Theater debut as the Empress Ottavia in Monteverdi's L'incoronatione di Poppea was praised by the Rochester City Newspaper as "a true force." She was involved in the Baroque performance ensemble, Collegium Musicum, singing the title role in Caccini’s La liberazione di Ruggiero dall'isola d'Alcina. Her most recent project with Shelter Music Boston, singing the role of Florence Price in Florence Comes Home by Francine Trester, was praised by the Boston Musical Intelligencer and the Boston Classical Review. Her recent concert engagements include the Johannes Brahms' Requiem alongside the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, J.S. Bach’s Ascension Oratorio BWV 11 (April 2018)) and Ralph Vaughan WilliamsDona Nobis Pacem with the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Buffalo. Along with her work in America, Brianna has also participated in international programs such as the Berlin Opera Academy and Opernfest Prague. At the Eastman School of Music, she was been involved in the production of Massenet’s Cendrillon and R. Vaughan WilliamsRiders to the Sea. She served as a Rising Artist with Pegasus Early Opera in the summer of 2017, singing the role of Witch #1 in Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. In May 2019, she covered Ofgen, Moira and Jenine in the East Coast premiere of Paul Roders’ The Handmaid’s Tale. As an Emerging Artist with the Boston Lyric Opera for the 2019-2020 season, she made her debut as Lucy in Gregory Spears’ Fellow Travelers in November 2019.

Brianna Robinson is a passionate and education driven soprano with experience in opera, music/arts administration, community service and other aspects of the classical music community. At Ohio Wesleyan University she was Music Education Administrative Assistant (September 2012-May 2014) and Interfaith House Moderator (August 2014-May 2015). She served as an Americorps volunteer with Seattle Music Partners (September 2015-July 2016), serving as Program Coordinator and Teaching Artist. Her work in administration includes an Arts Leadership certificate from the Eastman School of Music where she completed course-work and internships to gain skill and knowledge in the field and working as Operations/Marketing Assistant (June 2017-May 2018). While she was a professional soprano working as an Emerging Artist with the Boston Lyric Opera for the 2019-2020 season, she did work in administration and executive assistance around Boston, including Office Administrator at Boston Children's Chorus (September 2018-May 2019); Executive Assistant at Monte Rosa Therapeutics in Cambridge, Massachusetts (December 2019-December 2020); Special Project Coordinator at Boston Singers Resource Inc (September 2019-December 2022); Staff Assistant, Marketing and Communications at Harvard University Graduate School of Design in Boston (since October 2021). One of the most important things to Brianna is the ongoing progression of classical music in young children and the idea that children are the future of music, so we must use our own gifts to illuminate that truth.
