Riccardo Naldi (Choral Conductor, Bass)

Born: Italy

The Italian choral conductor and bass singer, Riccardo Naldi, graduated in Pre-Fulfillation with Fulvio Rampi at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Torino, where he studied singing with Manuela Marangoni, Claudine Ansermet, Grazia Abbà and Alessandra Cordero, earning a diploma at the same Conservatorio. From 2000 to 2005, he attended the international courses of training and musical improvement "Cluster" of the municipality of Courmayeur, studying choral conduvting with Marco Berrini.

Since 2001, Riccardo Naldi is Director of the Accademia Corale Guido d'Arezzo in Torino. In 2002 he studied conducting with Piero Bellugi. From 2002 to 2003, he was president of l’Iniziativa Musicale” di Rivalta. In June 2003, he attended the Master-class "La coralità romantica da camera" held by Peter Neumann (Arezzo). In 2006, he founded the "Cappella de 'Cantori", a vocal-instrumental group of professionals dedicated mainly to the study of Renaissance and Baroque polyphony. In October 2006, he won the 2nd prize with the Accademia Corale Guido d'Arezzo (1st prize not awarded) at the Concorso Corale Nazionale "Città e Provincia di Biella". In May 2007, he obtained the Certificate of Specialization in Choral Conducting (a training project co-funded by the European Social Fund and carried out by the Fondazione Istituto Musicale della Valle d'Aosta). In November 2007, he won the "Concorso Polifonico Regionale di Alba" (in the categories dedicated to polyphony) with the Accademia Corale Guido d'Arezzo. From 2007 to 2010, he participated in the Laboratorio Triennale di Direzione Corale "Fosco Corti" held by Dario Tabbia (direction), Alessandro Ruo Rui (analysis of the score) and the singer Anna Seggi Corti (choral singing). In October 2008, he obtained, with the same group, the 2nd prize at the Concorso Corale Nazionale “Lago Maggiore” di Stresa, both in the polyphonic and in the popular category (1st prize not awarded).

Since 2010, Riccardo Naldi has been Director of the Coro Liturgico della Chiesa San Filippo Neri di Torino. In the same year he graduated in singing at the Conservatorio “G.Verdi” di Torino. In the autumn of 2011 he obtained, with the Accademia Corale Guido d'Arezzo, the 2nd prize at the 2nd Concorso Nazionale di Canto Corale "Trofeo Città di Treviglio". From 2012 to 2013, he was Director of the Women's Choir "La Bottega Musicale" di San Raffaele Cimena (Torino). On December 15, 2012, he won the 1st prize at the 11th Concorso di Composizione ed Elaborazione Corale A.C.P. in the "A" section (Elaboration of a popular melody with text in the Piedmontese geographic area). Since September 2015, he has been the director of the Women's Choir "Emiolia" of the dell'Associazione Cantascuola di Torino. From January 2016, he is Director of the Coro Polifonico di Aosta.

Corista dell'rsrs Cantica di Milano, directed by Marco Berrini, has performed for the season "Musica e Poesia a San Maurizio" (Milano), "Pomeriggi Musicali" (Milano), "Settimane Musicali di Stresa", "Sagra Musicale Umbra", "International Festival of Early Music" of Martinengo (Be), Festival of Early Music of Malaga (Spain), "MITO" Settembre Musica. With the same formation he recorded the Responsori per la Settimana Santa by Orlando di Lasso (Degegani label, Annex Classic Voice 2007), Via Crucis by Franz Liszt (Naxos label 2011) and Requiem by W.A. Mozart, in a version for soloists, choir and four-hand piano by C. Czerny (Naxos label 2012).

In other formations and / or as director Riccardo Naldi has participated in the following felstivals and concert seasons: Settembre Musica (Torino), Piemonte in Musica, Rassegna di Musica Antica e Barocca Organalia”(Prov.di Torino), Chivasso in Musica (Torino), Festival Perosiano di Tortona, Rassegna Polifonica Aprutina (Teramo), Rassegna Corale di Canto Sacro di Olbia, Festival di Musica Corale e Organistica Laudate Dominum in chordis et organo della Valle d'Aosta, Festival Internazionale Alta Val Pusteria (Alto Adige), Meditazioni Musicali presso la Badia di Dulzago (Bellinzago Novarese), Stagione Concertistica dell'Auditorium A.Vivaldi di Alessandria, Aspor Piemonte di Torino, Stagione Musicale dell'Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo, Laudes Paschales di Torino.
Riccardo Naldi is also teacher of the Associazione “Cantascuola” di Torino, holds courses and seminars on music literacy and choral singing.
