The Hong Kong-born tenor and conductor, Sanders Lau, studied at St. Paulís Co-educational College in Hong Kong (2003-2010). He studied conducting from Esmond Lim and Felix Yeung. He has participated in master-classes and workshops of acclaimed conductors including Helmuth Rilling, Stephen Layton, Fred Sjöberg, Dénes Szabó, Theodora Pavlovitch, and Steve Zegree. His voice coaches include Jimmy Chan, Caleb Woo, and Margaret Yim. Sanders graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (2010-2013), and since 2013 he is pursuing Master of Music in Conducting at the Eastman School of Music, where he studies with Dr. William Weinert.
Sanders Lau is an active singer and conductor. He has been serving as the music director of Singchronizers since 2012. In addition, he was the choirmaster of Die Konzertisten (December 2012-August 2013) and Die Jungen Konzertisten in Hong Kong. In 2011, he co-founded and conducted the chamber choir Aqua Voice at the Department of Music of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He was the assistant conductor of the Senior Mixed Voice Choir of his alma mater, St. Paulís Co-educational College in Hong Kong, and led them in the 7th World Choir Games held in Cincinnati where they received a gold medal.
His recent conducting repertoires include J.S. Bachís Mass in A major (BWV 234), Purcellís Dido and Aeneas, George Frideric Handelís Israel in Egypt, Mozartís Missa Brevis in F major, Haydnís The Creation and Little Organ Mass, Felix Mendelssohnís Hear My Prayer, and contemporary music by Tarik OíRegan, Vytautas Miškinis, and Ola Gjeilo, to name just a few. Sanders also made his appearance as the tenor soloist in recent performances of J.S. Bachís Cantata BWV 131, G.F. Handelís Dixit Dominus, Mozartís Coronation Mass and Vesperae solennes de confessore, and Leonard Bernsteinís Chichester Psalms.
