Hye-Jung Kang (Soprano)

Born: South Korea

The Korean soprano, Hye-Jung Kang (Korean: 강혜정), obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut; and her Master of Music degree (2003) and her Professional Studies Diploma in Music Performance - Voice (2005) from Mannes College of Music in New York City. She received The Michael Sisca Opera Award in 2005.

Hye-Jung Kang made her debut as Pamina in her W.A. Mozart's opera Die Zauberflöte at the Kaye Playhouse in New York in 2005. She was selected for the Verdi Big 5 audition in 2007 and debuted on her domestic stage as Gilda in Rigoletto of the Seoul Opera Company. She performed with Jose Carreras in his concert in Korea in 2010. In 2010, she received the Soprano Rookie Award at the 3rd Korea Opera Awards, and in 2014 she received the Grand Prize in the Culture Category of the Seoul Success Awards. She sang at Le Man Music Festival in France and 2016 Bach Festival (Le Musicales in Colmar, France).

Hye-Jung Kang taught at Mannes College of Music. Currently she is Professor at Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea.
