Annett Illig (Soprano)

Born: 1968 (?), Czechoslovakia

The Czech soprano, Annett Illig, left her homeland when she was 14 years old. Her great goal was the stage. She studied at the special class for music Zwickau, singing studies in Leipzig, state exams with diploma in Berlin; since 1991 she was a pupil of the great Kammersängerin Professor Elisabeth Schwarzkopf in Zürich.

In 1995 Annett Illig was again in her homeland, at the Eduard-von-Winterstein-Theater, where she appeared in Jim Knopf and Gestiefelten Kater. She said good-bye to the ensemble with a touching performance in Anne Frank. Her great love is popular operas, operettas and musicals.

Annett Illig is for some time a sought-after concert soloist with special preference for Robert Schumann, Mussorgsky and Johannes Brahms. In 2005 she made her debut at the Dresdner Frauenkirche. Her newest project of Blicke mir nicht in die Lieder is dedicated to Gustav Mahler and its first performance was at the Schloss Schlettau.
