Johannes Hoefflin (Tenor)

Born: 1932 - Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

The German tenor, Johannes Hoefflin [Höfflin], is the son of a singer married couple. He received his vocal training from his mother Margarethe Jensen at the Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg, as well as by Paul Lohmann.

In 1959 Johannes Hoefflin was in the Federal Selection "Konzerte Junger Künstler" (Concerts for Young Artists) and began his extensive work as a concert and oratorio singer in Switzerland and abroad. The focus of his work was in the Baroque music, but his repertoire also included works from the Romanticiand Modern eras. In the 1960's he was an important J.S. Bach singer.

Johannes Hoefflin taught first at the Hochschule in Hamburg and in 1975 was appointed as Professor at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin, where he retired in 2000.
