The Turkish bass-baritone singer and physical therapist, Cumhur Görgün, started his vocal studies with Professor Güzin Gürel at Istanbul University State Conservatory (2012-2018), while he was studying physiotherapy and rehabilitation at Yeditepe University (2013-2017). He graduated with an honors degree in physiotherapy and rehabilitation and completed his opera and singing program in 2018. In the same year, he started his Master’s in Opera at Istanbul University (2018-2022). He studied at the Rodolfo Celletti Belcanto Academy, and worked with Alberto Triola, Chris Merritt, Sherman Lowe, Renata Lamanda and Nicolai Cok (April-June 2019). He won the Necdet Aydın Special Stage Interpretation Award at the 13th National Young Soloist Competition in 2020. He is the winner of Edward Berkeley Award in the 14th National Young Soloist Competition 2022 in İzmir. Since September 2022, he studies at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia (expected graduation: May 2026).
Cumhur Görgün performed the roles of Fiorello and Uffiziale in The Barber of Seville at Oper im Berg Festival in Salzburg, Austria in 2018, and he sang Antonio in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at Wiener Konzerthaus in 2019, with the support of Sedat Gürel-Güzin Gürel Science and Arts Foundation. In 2018, he covered of the role Sancho in Don Quichotte at Istanbul State Opera and Ballet. He sang as Schlendrian in Burak Bilgili's production of J.S. Bach’s Coffee Cantata (BWV 211) at the Süreyya Opera House in 2022. |
