Ffion Edwards (Soprano)

Born: 1996 (?) - Magor, South Wales, UK

The Welsh soprano, Ffion Elisabeth Edwards, graduated from The Royal Welsh College of Music in Cardiff Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Kate Woolveridge and Suzanne Murphy. (2014-2018). In December 2018, she sang at the National Eisteddfod. From placing first in the soprano 19-25 category, placing second in the Towyn Roberts Scholarship and performed in the final of the Osborne Roberts Memorial prize. She graduated with distinction from the Royal College of Music, where she studied on the Master of Performance course under the tutelage of Dinah Harris, Simon Lepper and Croline Dowdle (2018-2020).

Her awards include: Winner at Geraint Morris Memorial Award (2016); Finalist at National Eisteddfod Osborne Roberts Prize, Blue Ribband (2017); Winner at National Eisteddfod Soprano 19-25 prize (2017); Second at National Eisteddfod Lieder 19-25 prize (2016); Winner at Violet Mary Lewis Scholarship, Most promising soprano (2016); One of the five prize-winners at the 28th Maureen Lehane Virtual Vocal Awards (December 2020).

Concert/ Oratorio performance include: Soloist with BBC National Chorus of Wales, St David's day concert; Soprano Soloist in George Frideric Handel's Messiah; Soprano Soloist in Felix Mendelssohn's St Paul; Singer in BBC Relaxed Proms at The Royal Albert Hall; Soprano Soloist in W.A. Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate & Haydn's Nelson Mass with Newent community choir; Guest soloist with Caldicot Male Voice Choir; Guest Soloist with Newport City Male Voice Choir; Guest Solist with Worshipful Livery Company of Wales; Soloist & Chorus Member with National Youth Choir of Wales; Chorus Member with BBC National Chorus of Wales; Chorus in J.S. Bach's St John's Passion (BWV 245) with S4C; Volunteer and Guest Soloist with The Forget-me-not Chorus. Opera performances include: General/Post office Clerk in Kommilitonen! (Welsh National Youth Opera); Chorus in Paul Bunyan (Welsh National Youth Opera); Chorus in Tosca (Llangollen Eisteddfod).
