Samantha Dotterweich (Soprano)

Born: Sacramento, California, USA

The American soprano, Samantha Dotterweich (Osborn), obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance with Pre-Medical Studies (2009-2013), and her Master's Degree, Sacred Music in Vocal Performanc (2013-2015), both from University of Notre Dame.

Praised for her "effortless and honest performance, floating legato, and impeccable coloratura,” Samantha Dotterweich is known for her versatility and artistry. Recent solo performances include J.S. Bach’s Magnificat BWV 243 (Emmanuel Music), Mass in B Minor BWV 232 (Emmanuel Music) and St. John Passion BWV 245 (St. Paul’s Music, Indianapolis); Dorinda in George Frideric Handel’s Orlando (Boston Early Music Festival Young Artist Training Program), Ode for St. Cecilia’s Day (Emmanuel Music), Maddalena in La Resurrezione (University of Notre Dame) and Messiah (St. Paul’s Music, Indianapolis); and Despina in W.A. Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte (Atlantic Music Festival).

Samantha Dotterweich has performed over 30 cantatas with Emmanuel Music in their weekly Emmanuel Music: Bach Cantata Series (since January 2020) as well as the Mass in B Minor BWV 232, John Harbison’s Supper at Emmaus, Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, and G.F. Handel's Ode for St. Cecilia’s Day. Her solo cantata highlights from Emmanuel Music include Süßer Trost, mein Jesus kömmt BWV 151, and Siehe, ich will viel Fischer aussenden BWV 88. She also sings soprano with Boston Baroque (since June 2018).

Admired for her adept performances of new music, Samantha Dotterweich has given world premieres with Emmanuel Music, Kosmologia Vocal Ensemble, Vocale, the Atlantic Music Festival, and the University of Notre Dame.

In addition, Samantha Dotterweich has worked as Elementary Music Teacher at Archdiocese of Indianapolis (Aug 2015-May 2017); Choir Director and Classroom Teacher of Indianapolis Children's Choir (January 2016-May 2017); Artistic Administrator at White Snake Projects in Boston (May 2018-June 2020); Grant Writer (since September 2019) and Executive Director (since January 2021) at Renaissance Men in Boston.
