Benjamin De Loache (Bass-Baritone)

Born: 1906 - USA
Died: 1994

The American baritone, Benjamin De Loache, studied with Mr. de Gogorza. In 1935 he was a prize-winnr at the Walter W. Naumburg Competition. He appeared at the Yaddo Festival in Saratoga Springs, New York in 1937 and 1938.

Benjamin De Loache participated in the premiere recording of Arnold Schoenberg’s Gurre-Lieder with Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Leopold Stokowski, and recorded during live performances at the Metropolitan Opera Philadelphia, in two distinct versions with the same personnel, on April 9 & 11, 1932. He also particpated in the premiere performance (1932) and recording of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven with music by Arcady Dubensky with the same conductor and orchestra.
