Felipe Catalán (Tenor)

Born: Santiago, Chile

The Chilean tenor, Felipe Catalán Ossa, studied at the Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile with the teachers Fernando Lara and Hans Stein, perfecting himself at the Instituto de Música de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with the teacher Ahlke Scheffelt.

Felipe Felipe Catalán has appeared on different stages of Chile to interpret both Oratorio, Lieder and Opera. He has participated as a soloist in oratorios such as George Frideric Handel's The Messiah (CEAC Universidad de Chile, March 2013, W.A. Mozart's version; Teatro Municipal Temuco Camilo Salvo, December 2019), W.A. Mozart's Coronation Mass (CEAC Universidad de Chile, May-June 2013) and Requiem (Corporación Cultural Universidad de Concepción, October 2015), J.S. Bach's Magnificat (BWV 243) (CEAC Universidad de Chile, August 2016), L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (Teatro Del Lago, February 2017), F.J. Haydn's Die Schöpfung (at CEAC Universidad de Chile, November 2018). He has also been part of Lied concerts in which he has sung composers such as F.J. Haydn, W.A. Mozart, F. Schubert and Robert Schumann. As for the opera, his repertoire includes roles such as The Count of Almaviva in J. Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia, Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Cosi fan Tutte, Don Ottavio in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni (Teatro Regional del Maule, February-March 2020; Municipal de Santiago, November-December 2021). He also participated playing the main role Riccardo Albenori in Alessandro Scarlatti's Baroque opera Il trionfo dell 'onore, conducted by maestro Sylvia Soublette. He has also been invited to participate in the Coro Profesional del Teatro Municipal de Santiago in different opera productions.

In 2009 Felipe Catalán obtained a tenor position in the Camerata Vocal de la Universidad de Chile, where he is currently a member. He is also a member of the vocal ensemble of Bach Santiago (2023). He currently lives in Santiago, Chile.
