The Icelandic tenbor Thorsteinn H. Árbjörnsson, began his studies with W. Keith Reed at the music school in Egilsstadir. He studied at Oklahoma University under the guidance of Salvatore Champagne, and completed his Bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College Conservatory with Salvatore Champagne. He was invited to attend the Music Academy of the West, where he studied with world-famous artists including Marilyn Horne and Warren Jones. In 2011, he won V.O.I.C.Experience Scholarship from Florida Opera Theatre. He will use this opportunity to further his music education.
Thorsteinn Árbjörnsson made his USA professional debut with the Cleveland Orchestra in Igor Stravinsky’s Le Rossignol conducted by Maestro Pierre Boulez. He is currently a resident of Central Florida and a frequent performer for Florida Opera Theatre. He He has also been an apprentice artist with the Santa Fe Opera. His roles performed include Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Così Fan Tutte, Don Basilio in W.A. Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Don Ottavio in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, The Sailor in Le Pauvre Matelot, Nemorino in L’Elisir d’Amore, Le Chevalier in Francis Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmelites, Camille de Rossillon in The Merry Widow, and Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos. Last summer, he sang Alfredo with North Shore Music Festival’s La Traviata.
Concert solo performances include J.S. Bach's Magnificat (BWV 243), Orff’s Carmina Burana, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solemnelle, W.A. Mozart's Coronation Mass and works by Arthur Honegger, Felix Mendelssohn, George Frideric Handel, and Schubert. |
