Susan Trout (Contralto)

Born: USA

The American dramatic soprano, Susan Trout, is known for her versatility in a wide range of repertoire. She has appeared as an oratorio soloist with the Baroque orchestras of Emmanuel Music, Boston Cecelia, Handel and Haydn Society, and the Washington Bach Consort in such works as Samson by George Frideric Handel, Mass in B minor (BWV 232) by J.S. Bach, In the Beginning by A. Copland, Gottes Zeit ist die Aller Beste Zeit (BWV 106) by J.S. Bach, St. John Passion (BWV 245) by J.S. Bach.

Susan Trout has appeared with Boston Lyric Opera as Sarah in The Ballad of Baby Doe, and also as Mrs. Baines in the workshop production of Elmer Gantry. She has been a featured soloist with the Merrimack Valley Philharmonic performing the Four Last Songs and finale from Der Rosenkavalier by R. Strauss, and the Liebestod by R. Wagner. She has also been heard locally with the choruses and orchestras of Tufts performing the Verdi Requiem, of M.I.T. performing the W.A. Mozart Requiem, with Clark University in the Francis Poulenc Gloria, and with the Harvard-Radcliffe Chorus in the Lord Nelson Mass by Haydn.

Susan Trout is a member of Emmanuel Music, world renowned for its performances of Bach cantatas as a part of the weekly liturgy.
