The German baritone, Ernst Gerold Schramm, was first a choral conductor and pianist. However, he then trained his voice and was pupil of Bruno Vondenhoff, Martin Gründler and E. Arnold in Frankfurt a.M. In 1965 he won the International Singing Competition of Geneva.
Ernst Gerold Schramm made his stage debut in 1966 at the Staatstheater Hannover as Marullo in Verdi’s Rigoletto. Followed that great successes, particularly at the Opera House of Frankfurt a.M. At the same time he also worked there as a teacher at the Musikhochschule. He also sang at am Deutschen Opernhaus Berlin, in Wuppertal, at the Festivals of Salzburg and Bregenz and at the Wiener Volksoper.
In the center of Ernst Gerold Schramm’s concert and stage repertoire were above all roles from the lyric repertoire. He sang gladly works from the Baroque period and was considered as important Lieder interpreter.
