The Hungarian contralto Judit (Judith) Németh received her initial musical training as singer and pianist at the local conservatory of her hometown Miskolc, and afterwards entered the Academy of music in Budapest, from which she obtained a teacher’s diploma in 1986’ and a diploma as opera singer in 1988. For three years she studied with Anna Reynolds at the Bach Summer Academy in Stuttgart, and in 1989 received the Special award of the City of Barcelona for her achievement in the International Vinas singing Competition.
A regular performer with all major orchestra of Hungary, Judit Németh has toured throughout Europe and has several CD’s to her credit. She has worked with such leading conductors as Antal Doráti, Nicholas McGegan and Eric Ericson. She joined the Budapest State Opera in 1990, singing Annio in W.A. Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito. In July 2000 she received an invitation to appear in Bayreuth as Waltraute in Wagner’s Die Walküre. |
