Auguste Friderica de Monjou and Louise Catherine de Monjou werre born the daughters of Jean François de Monjou (Pagen-hofmeister (governor of pages; page-boy steward) in Köthen). They were probably members of a musical society in Wittenberg. From 1720 to 1722 they were singers at the Köthen court; in 1722 they gave guest performance at the Prussian court in Berlin. From 1722/1723 to 1728/1729 they were singers at the Hamburg Opera. Further whereabouts unknown.
The assumption made by Rudolf Bunge in 1905 about the Monjou sisters that "daß diese beiden stimmbegabten Damen Schülerinnen unseres Meisters waren" (these two women with vocal talent were pupils of our master" cannot be supported by anything other than that they were engaged in the Köthen's Hofkapelle at the same time as J.S. Bach. The specified life stages of the two singers are identical up to their time in Hamburg. According to Hans-Joachim Schulze (2013) one of the two later left Hamburg and married a man named Müller, the other stayed in Hamburg and died there on February 9, 1737 as “Christel Monjo”. It is currently not possible to decide which of the sisters this applies to. The first names given above were only used by Rashid-S. Pegah (2017).
