History & Mission: |
The Görlitzer Bachwoche began in 1953. It was originally founded as the Görlitzer Kirchenmusiktage (Görlitz Church Music Days) and later took on its current name in 1973. The current festival format generally takes place over five to six days, culminating around the German Unity Day public holiday on October 3; average attendance approx. 1,600 visitors.
Concerts with a focus on the works of J.S. Bach; Continuing education courses for church musicians; Lectures and exhibitions with current and historical references. |
