The American mezzo-soprano and music teacher, Jacque Wilson Scharlach , obtained Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from California State University, Northridge (1996-1999); and her Master of Music degree in Opera Performance from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee (1999-2001).
Jacque Wilson Scharlach has been Professional Opera Singer/Voice Teacher since 2001. She is hailed as a "passionate singer with beautiful warm tones." She has more than fifteen years of teaching experience including three years spent as a musical theater voice faculty at the University of Southern Maine (September 2008-December 2011). She is currently on the voice faculty of San José State University (since August 2018) and West Valley College (September 2012-October 2024), as well as maintaining an active private vocal studio.
Jacque Wilson Scharlach has appeared with numerous orchestras and choruses across the country including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Opera (since February 2012), Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra (since May 2013), and Cantata Collective (Director: Nicholas McGegan). She has performed to great renowned on both coasts in opera and musical theatre. Some of her favorite roles include: Meg Page in Falstaff, Meg in Little Women, Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Julie Jordan in Carousel, Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, and Pitti Sing in The Mikado. She believes in teaching a bel canto technique to all her students whether they are singing classical, musical theatre or jazz. She is a member of San Francisco Opera Association and currently lives in Castro Valley, California. |
