Andra Isabel Wildgrube (Contralto)

Born: Hannover, Germany

The German contralto, Andra Isabel Wildgrube, first studied singing pedagogy at the Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen with Barbara Pfeffer and then opera and concert singing with Professor Brigitte Lindner at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. However, she started her musical career at the age of 11 in the Kinderchor der Staatsoper Hannover (1998-2008), where she also performed small solo parts like the Shepherd in Toska or the main role in the children's opera Cinderella.

Today Andra Isabel Wildgrube's work focuses on oratorios, ensembles and Lieder. As a soloist, she is particularly in demand in the Baroque scene. She regularly sings cantatas and oratorios by J.S. Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann or George Frideric Handel. Her concert activity brought her together with well-known orchestras and conductors. In the summer of 2016, for example, she participated in the Ruhrtriennale's performance of Stockhausen's Carré, which the Los Angeles Times described as "one of the best productions of the year".

Concert tours with selected ensembles such as ChorWerk Ruhr (Director: Florian Helgath; since 2014), Europäische Vokalsolisten (Director: Steffen Schreyer; since 2015), Schola Heidelberg Director: Walter Nußbaum; since 2015), Chorus Musicus Köln (Director: Christoph Spering; 2014), Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart, JSB Ensemble Stuttgart (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann; 2014), JSB Ensemble Stuttgart (Director: Helmuth Rilling; 2012 & 2013), Landesjugendchor Niedersachsen (Director: Jörg Straube; 2007-2010), and Bachakademie Weimar, under the conductors Marcus Creed, Florian Helgath, Walter Nussbaum, Helmuth Rilling, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Jörg Straube, among others, have taken Andra Isabel Wildgrube all over Germany, to the Netherlands and Switzerland, to Italy, Russia, Tunisia and Chile.
