Barbara Wallace (Soprano)

Born: February 19, 1930 - Boston, Massachusetts, USA

The American soprano, Barbara Wallace (born Barbara Louise Mitchell), started performing professionally at the age of 17, while living in Melrose, Massachusetts. In 1949 she married to Charles C. Wallace. She graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston in 1951.

Barbara Wallace sang as soprano soloist with King’s Chapel Choir, Boston, approx. 1955-1987. The composer Daniel Pinkham wrote several pieces specifically for her voice. She was soloist with many organizations over the years, including: Boston Symphony Orchestra, Cecilia Society, Handel and Haydn Society, King’s Chapel Music Program.


In the late 1970’s Barbara Wallace taught at the New England Conservatory in Boston. Currently she is living in Maine (as of May 2011).
