The Dutch soprano, Hadewijch Voorn, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Singing from Fontys Hogeschool Tilburg (2001-2005), where she studied with Frans Fiselier; and her Master of Arts degree in Solo Singing from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (2005-2007), with Henny J. Diemer, where she participated in the opera class with director Monique Wagenmakers, guest director David Prins and coach Jan Slothouwer. She waa then coached by Jard van Nes and Nelly Miricioiu and recently by Charlotte Margiono. She attended master-classes with Nelly Miricioiu (Grachten Festival, 2007), Gemma Visser, Ira Siff, Rudolf Jansen, Jard van Nes and Ann Murray.
Hadewijch Voorn's repertoire includes masses by Rossini (Petite Messe Solennelle) and W.A. Mozart, oratorios by Antonio Vivaldi (Gloria), J.S. Bach (several cantatas), Heinrich von Herzogenberg (Die Passion), Georg Philipp Telemann (Der Tod Jesu), Camille Saint-Saëns (Oratorio de Noël) and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (Stabat Mater). She has worked with conductors such as Ed Spanjaard, Florian Heyerick, Martien van Woerkum, Louis Buskens, Stefan Veselka, David Levi and with Jac van Steen in Grieg's Peer Gynt, with the Nürnberger Symphoniker.
With the Brabants Orchestra, Hadewijch Voorn sang a small solo role from Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss, conducted by Jan Willem de Vriend. She has also given recitals several times, including songs by Wagner, Gustav Mahler, Wolf, Robert Schumann, Gabriel Fauré and Berlioz. With the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra she sang highlights from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story (ensemble).
Hadewijch Voorn sang the role of Dido in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell and Imelda in Oberto, Conte di San Bonifacio by Verdi. In September 2005, she played the role of 'Crazy Witch' in the opera Tijdvaarders by Gerard Beljon, in collaboration with orchestra 'De Volharding', conducted by Ruud van Eeten. In 2007, she appeared in Rusalka by Dvořak, Suor Angelica and Il Tabarro by Puccini at Opera Zuid. In June 2008, she sang the role of Theresa in Bellini's La Sonnambula. In Zauber ohne Flote, a production of the Reisopera, she sang the role of the First Lady, this production was based on W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. In August 2009, she sang the role of Fourth Virgin in Elektra by R. Strauss at Opera Spanga and in November 2009 the role of Anna Paulowna in Opera Willem II, world premiere, by R. van Eeten.
In November 2010, Hadewijch Voorn sang the role of Irene in Wagner's Rienzi. Since 2009, she has formed the Duo Grout&Voorn together with pianist Kelvin Grout. In March 2012 they gave a recital with Lieder by R. Strauss in Muziekcentrum de Toonzaal in Den Bosch. She has been associated with the choir of the National Opera in Amsterdam as a freelance soprano since 2012. In 2017 she was one of the Four Janissaries in W.A. Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the National Opera, conducted by Jérémie Rhorer, directed by Johan Simons. She forms a duo with soprano Simone van Lieshout. They focus on making children's performances for halls, festivals and schools. Performances that can go together with an educational project.
Hadewijch Voorn has been emplyed as singing teacher at Factorium Podium kunsten Tilburg (September 2001/2002-August 2015); Stichting Jeugdtheaterhuis Zuid-Holland (September 2010-June 2012 and at Jeugdtheaterhuis in Gorinchem (January 2012-April 2013)
Hadewijch Voorn also studied for Nursing Bachelor degree in People and Health, HBO-V at Fontys University of Applied Sciences (2014-2018); Post-HBO degree as System therapy worker at Euthopia and the Youth Care Academy (2019-2020); Master of Science degree in Mental health services / Mental care / Mental health at GGZ-VS Utrecht (2021-2023). She has worked as Psychiatric nurse at GGz Breburg (September 2014-December 2018); Judicial nurse at Dienst Justitiële Inrichtingen (DJI) (January-August 2019); Nurse training to become a Mental Health Specialist at GGz Breburg (since September 2019). |
