Salvo Vitale (Bass)

Born: Catania, Italy

The Italian bass, Salvo Vitale, had studied at the Scuola Civica di Milano, be fore he studied singing with E. Abumradi, E. Martelli and A. Goussev and attended the master-classes in Baroque singing held by Alan Curtis.

Salvo Vitale performs solo activities in collaboration with some of the most important ensembles specializing in the Baroque repertoire including: A sei voci (Director: Bernard Fabre-Garrus), Cappella della Pietà de’ Turchini (Director: Antonio Florio), Concerto Barocco (Director: Alan Curtis), Coro della Radio Svizzera (Director: Diego Fasolis), Ensemble Concerto (Director: Roberto Gini), Ensemble Elyma (Director: Gabriel Garrido), Ensemble Forte Piano (Director: Antonio Frigé), Harmonices Mundi (Director: Claudio Astronio), I Madrigalisti Ambrosiani & Il Canto di Orfeo (Director: Gianluca Capuano), La Risonanza (Director: Fabio Bonizzoni), La Stagione Armonica (Director: Sergio Balestracci), La Venexiana (Director: Claudio Cavina); as well as under the conductors Filippo Maria Bressan, Andrea Marcon, Marco Mencoboni, M. Valsecchi. He is a member of the male-only vocal ensemble I Divoti Falsetti.

In the 2000-2001 season, under the musical direction of Roberto Gini, Salvo Vitale performed music by Monteverdi in the show Il combattimento della Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio, staged by Romeo Castellucci, presented in the most important European theater festivals including the Kunsten Festival des Arts in Brussels, Wiener Festwochen in Vienna, Holland Festival in Amsterdam, Festival d'Automne in Paris, Biennale di Venezia. He recorded for thge labels Stradivarius (music by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Carissimi, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Monteverdi), Chandos (music by Calegari), K617, Dynamic, Amadeus and Glossa. He currently lives in Milan, Italy.
