Alba Vilar-Juanola (Soprano)

Born: Catalonia, Spain

The Catalan soprano, Alba Vilar-Juanola, studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock with Carola Höhn. She finished her diploma both in the field of solo singing (July 2013 with distinction) and singing education (2014). Master-classes with Anna Tomowa-Sintow, Reri Grist, Helen Donath, Jutta Vulpius and Sibylla Rubens complemented her education. She was a scholarship holder in the Yehudi Menuhin project "Live Music Now" in Rostock. In 2012, she received the sponsorship award of the "Walter und Charlotte Hamel-Stiftung". In 2011, she was a finalist at the Juventudes Musicales de España competition (Jeunesses Musicales Spain).

As a concert soloist Alba Vilar-Juanola regularly performs the soprano parts of the great masses and oratorios. In addition, modern compositions, song and chamber music programs are part of her repertoire. In the opera field she sang, among others,the role of Miss Wordworth in Albert Herring by W.A. Mozart, Barmherzigkeit (Mercy) in Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebots by W.A. Mozart and the Second and Third Elves in Rusalka by Antonín Dvořák.

From September 2012 to March 2013, Alba Vilar-Juanola was an academician at the Rundfunkchor Berlin under the direction of Simon Halsey. Since January 2014, she has been a permanent member of the MDR Rundfunkchor Leipzig, in whose concerts she also appears as a soloist. Since June 2015, she is also a member of Leipziger Bach-Solisten (Director: Georg Christoph Biller). She currently live in Leipzig, Germany.
