Gabriella Szili (Soprano)

Born: June 14, 1977 - Budapest, Hungary

The Hungarian soprano, Gabriella Szili, was member of the Hungarian Radio Children’s Choir until 1992, and singing played a very important role in her life from a very young age. She graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in 2001, where she studied choir conducting. During her studies she took to Baroque and its special singing technique.

Gabriella Szili is a founding member of Ars Longa Ensemble directed by Soma Dinyés, which has given several performances at various festivals in Hungary, presenting the new style of performing Baroque music, based on new, living foundations. Since 2005 she has been invited to perform as the soloist of Baroque oratoric performances (e.g. Dietrich Buxtehude: Membra Jesu Nostri, George Frideric Handel: Messiah, J.S. Bach: several cantatas), since 2011 she has been the permanent soloist of the Bratislava-based Solamente Naturali chamber orchestra playing authentic instruments. In addition to regular tours in Slovakia (concerts in Muran, Dolný Kubín, Liptovský Hrádok, Svätý Anton), she participates in the Bach Cantata-series in Bratislava and prestigious concerts in the Bratislava Reduta.

Beside the solo concerts she gave last year (e.g. solo concert with the Anima Musicae chamber orchestra, performance in the Vojnovich-Huszár Villa) Gabriella Szili has also been member of the new choir of the Hungarian State Opera since July 2013. She currently lives in Budapest, Hungary.
