Ilona Szeverényi (Harpsichord, Cimbalom)

Born: 1946 - Gyula, Hungary

The Hungarian harpsichordist and cimbalom-player, Ilona Szeverényi, studied at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music from 1965 to 1968 under the guidance of Gerencser Ferenc.

After finishing her studies, Ilona Szeverényi was appointed as a teacher for harpsichord at the Musical Conservatoire in Jozsefvaros, and in 1986 she taught at the Bela Bartok Conservatoire. In 1989, Ilona Szeverenyi obtained the Cathedra for Harpsichord at the Academy of Musical Teachers.

Between 1970-1980, Ilona Szeverényi joined other Hungarian harpsichordists such as Enzso Tunde and Vekony Ildiko, with whom they featured more then 70 Hungarian musical works. She composed numerous sheet music for harpsichord. She has been awarded with prestigious Hungarian prizes in 1983, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1995, 1996.
