The Dutch soprano, Petra Stoute, studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where she obtained her Master of Music degree in classical singing. During her studies she was coached by Pierre Mak. She participated in master-classes with Margreet Honig, Paul Triepels, Marie Kuijken and Sigiswald Kuijken, Michael Chance, David Wilson-Johnson, Hanna Schwarz, Jard van Nes, Maarten Koningsberger, Udo Reinemann, Rudolf Jansen and Roberta Alexander. Her talent has been able to develop further thanks to various funds: the Heij-Konijn fonds (Dullertstichting) and the Van Berkel fonds/Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds. With their support, she has attended summer courses in France and Italy. Even after her training, she continued to take lessons: among others with Xenia Meijer, vocal coach Brian Masuda and breathing and singing pedagogue Paul Triepels. She is currently coached by Hanneke de Wit.
Petra Stoute is a soloist who is praised not only for her clear, warm sound but also for her energetic and expressive stage presence. For her, singing is connecting with the music and with the audience. In the Netherlands she is a regular guest as a soloist with oratorio choirs. She is also active in the opera field. She has a lyrical voice and has the vocal flexibility needed for virtuoso coloratura parts. She is a soloist with team spirit, likes to collaborate and finds it important to bring out the best in each other. From the first contact with the choir board, the concert itself, up to and including the drinks after the concert. She makes music with dedication to the music, an eye for her fellow musicians and the necessary dose of humor and fun.
As an oratorio soloist, Petra Stoute has built up an extensive repertoire, which includes major works such as J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244), W.A. Mozart's Requiem and Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, as well as less frequently performed works such as George Frideric Handel's Judas Maccabeus.
Together with fellow singers Florieke Beelen, Leon van Liere and Patrick Pranger, Petra Stoute forms the soloist quartet CLARUS, of which she is also the soprano. CLARUS is a soloist quartet that can be hired as a whole for (oratorio) concerts. CLARUS is not the only collaboration that Petra has entered into. With soprano Nicole Fiselier she forms Classical Wedding Singers Europe (or short: CWSE). They provide the musical setting for stylish wedding ceremonies. |
