Chan Il Seok (Bass)

Born: April 30, 1969 - Daegu, South Korea

The Korean bass, Chan Il Seok, earned his music degree from the Kyungpook State University in Daegu, South Korea. This was followed by studies in Italy with Otello Borgonovo, Gigliola Senesi and Antonio Tonini. He received his diploma with Carmen Stara at the Conservatory Arrigo Boito, Parma and Marcello Conati at the Academy Orfeo, Parma. Master-classes with Rudolf Knoll and Grace Bumbry completed his training. He won 3rd place at the 5th International Singing Competition in Lignano Sabbiadoro and 1st place at the 6th Music Competition in Varenna.

Chan Il Seok has performed as opera and concert singer in Italy, France, Sweden, Germany and Korea. Since August 1999, he is engaged as 2nd bass in the Opernchor der Oper Kiel. He currently lives in Kiel, Germany.
