Michael Seifferth (Tenor)

Born: June 30, 1985 - Leipzig, Saxony, Germany

The German tenor and singing teacher, Michael Seifferth, initially received his musical training on the cello. He studied opera singing, pedagogy and cultural studies in Leipzig, Karlsruhe and Florence. Master-classes and lessons in bel canto, Baroque and contemporary music, operetta, chanson and jazz also shaped his musical career. He devoted himself to applied cultural studies in an accompanying course of study. He played the cello in the orchestra for many years. He developed an affinity for ensemble singing as a child and this is expressed in the activity of various formations. He was a scholarship holder of the "Yehudi Menuhin Stiftung – live music now"

Michael Seifferth is active as a freelance opera and concert singer and educator. He sang opera roles such as Abu Hassan in Weber's opera of the same name, Oronte in George Frideric Handel's Alcina, Orest in Gluck's Iphygenie auf Tauris and Nanky-Poo in Sullivan's Mikado. At the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg he was heard as Alcasto in Wilhelmine von Bayreuth's Baroque opera Argenore. At the Nationaltheater Mannheim he sang in Weinberg's Der Idiot and in the 2015 premiere of Esame di Mezzanotte by Lucia Ronchetti. He has been particularly closely connected to the Theater Koblenz and Kammertheater Karlsruhe for many years.

In addition to opera, Michael Seifferth's his attention also focuses on chamber music, Lied, sacred and contemporary music. He was a soloist at the Max-Reger-Tagen Weiden, Stuttgater Bachfest, Weimarer Kunstfest, and at a premiere by Klaus Lang of the Europäischen Kirchemusikfestival Schwäbisch Gmünd. He regularly performs as a concert singer across the country and is a guest at opera houses and concert choirs.

Michael Seifferth has been has been the “backup” for the tenor in the Rasselbande A-cappella vocal ensemble since 2016. He is also a member of Vocalconsort Leipzig. He is a permanent member of the Comedian Harmonists formation and the Barbershop-Quartett. In the rascals he usually takes on the delicate and important position of second tenor and is therefore often the tip of the scales, not only when it comes to intonation.

Michael Seifferth also works as a singing teacher, voice trainer and in early musical education. When he finds time besides work and family, he fills it with sports, traveling and good food.
