Anja Scherg (Soprano)

Born: Munich, Bavaria, Germany

The German soprano, Anja Scherg, received her first singing lessons with Tanja D'Althann and studied at the Musikhochschule Nürnberg-Augsburg with Professor Hans-Joachim Beyer and Rebecca Martin. She attended master-classes with Professor Rudolf Piernay and Udo Reinemann and received lessons in the Lied classes of Céline Dutilly, Tobias Truniger and Marcelo Amaral, as well as in the oratorio classes of Hansjörg Albrecht and Frieder Bernius.

At the Münchener Biennale Anja Scherg worked in Jens Joneleit's opera Piero - Ende der Nacht and guested with it at the Frankfurt Opera. In the 2009-2010 season , she played the role of Elisa at W.A. Mozart's Il re pastore at the Stadttheater Augsburg.

Her artistic focus lies in the concert area. Anja Scherg sang in recent years, for example, in J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) the soprano Blute nur under Masaaki Suzuki, Heinrich Schütz' Musikalische Exequien with the ChorWerk Ruhr at the Herkulessaal in Munich, as well as Monteverdi's Marienvesper at the Rudolfinum in Prague and Alessandro Scarlatti's Stabat Mater in Schwetzingen with the Collegium Vocale 1704 (Director: Václav Luks). She also guested with Louis Andriessen's De Materie at the Ruhrtriennale and Park Armory Hall in New York. She has also been a member of the Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius) and Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart (Directors: Helmuth Rilling & Hans-Christoph Rademann).
