The Portuguese bass, Carlos Pedro Santos, began his musical studies in Lisbon. He graduated in Singing from the Amsterdam Conservatory in 2002, studying under the German baritone Udo Reinemann.
Carlos Pedro Santos has performed L.v. Beethoven's Mass in C major, Johannes Brahms's A German Requiem, Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, W.A. Mozart's Requiem, George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Puccini's Messa di Gloria, and J.S. Bach's Cantata Ich habe genug BWV 82, among other works. He has worked with orchestras such as the Sinfónica Portuguesa, Zürich Sinfonietta, and Orquestra Filarmonia Das Beiras, and with conductors Graeme Jenkins, Donato Renzetti, Giovanni Andreoli, and António Lourenço.
Carlos Pedro Santos participated in the premiere of Post-truth, a work by composer and conductor João Tiago Santos. In the realm of opera, he has performed Don Alfonso in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, Aeneas in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Crown in Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, The Clock in Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges, Franck in Strauss' Die Fledermaus, Bartolo in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Ben in Menotti's The Telephone, and Pluto in Charpentier's La descente d'Orphée aux enfers.
Carlos Pedro Santos was a member of the Gulbenkian Choir. His musical activity extends from Gregorian chant to jazz and light music. He was a founding member of the Coro Gregoriano de Lisboa and the Quarteto Tetvocal. With these groups, he recorded several albums, recognized by national and international critics for their quality. He has been a member of the Coro do Teatro Nacional de São Carlo since 2008. |
