The German soprano, Katharina Sabrowski, grew up in a highly musical environment on the North Sea island of Sylt. Her musical journey began as a violinist in a youth orchestra. After graduating from high school, she began her vocal studies with Professors Erwin Spaett and Judith Beckmann at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, graduating with distinction. Early on, she participated in numerous concert and opera productions there. She attended master-classes with outstanding singers and teachers, including Brigitte Fassbaender, James Wagner, and Sena Jurinac. She is a prize-winner of the VdMK-Bundeswettbewerb in Berlin.
Guest engagements as a soloist have taken Katharina Sabrowski to venues such as the Stadttheater Hildesheim and the Bühnen der Landeshauptstadt Kiel. Her operatic roles include Lucia in Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia; Papagena in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte; and roles in Sand– und Taumännchen and Hänsel und Gretel.
Katharina Sabrowski's artistic focus as a soloist is on concert and oratorio repertoire in Germany and abroad. Her repertoire encompasses a broad musical spectrum, ranging from the major works of George Frideric Handel's Messias, Israel in Ägypten; J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion BWV 244, Johannes-Passion BWV 245, Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248, Mass in B minor BWV 232, Haydn's Die Schöpfung, W.A. Mozart's Requiem, c-moll Messe, Exultate jubilate; Felix Mendelssohn's Elias, Lobgesang; Johannes Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem, Rossini's Petite messe solennelle, Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, Debussy, and Orff's Carmina Burana.
In September 2003, Katharina Sabrowski joined the NDR Vokalensemble (Current director: Klaas Stok). She slso performs with this ensembe as a soloist. Since then, she has also performed as a soloist under renowned conductors such as Alan Gilbert, Jonathan Seers, and many others. |
