Liselotte Rebmann (Soprano)

The German soprano, Lieselotte Rebmann, Studied at the Stuttgarter Musikhochschule with Hermann Reutter and with Friedel Mielsch-Nied.

In 1957, Lieselotte Rebmann began her career as an Elevin at Staatsoper von Stuttgart. In 1959 she was invited by Wolfgang Sawallisch to the Staatstheater von Wiesbaden, where she had great successes as Countess in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. Since 1963 she was a member of the Stuttgarter Staatsoper and at the same time was able to develop a significant international career. In 1957 she sang in Stuttgart in the world premiere of Carl Orff's Comoedia de Christi Resurrectione. She guested at the Festival of Salzburg (1977-1978 as Marianne Leitmetzerin in Rosenkavalier), 1966 and 1968 she sang at the Staatsoper von Hamburg, the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro. Since 1964 she has been a frequent guest at the Münchner Staatsoper, where she was particularly successful as Daphne in the eponymous Richard Strauss' opera. In 1964 she performed at the Oper von Frankfurt a.M.; in 1961, 1967 and 1971 at the Opéra du Rhin Strasbourg (as Elisabeth in Tannhäuser), in 1968 at the Opera of Rome; in 1979 at the Opera House of Lyon; also at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and as a concert singer in 1969 at the Holland Festival. In 1964 she sang at the Festival of Bayreuth a solo flower in Parsifal; in 1966 she participated in the Edinburgh Festival (Pamina in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte together with the Stuttgart Ensemble); in 1969 she appeared at the Metropolitan Opera in New York as Woglinde in the Rheingold, which she also sang in 1970 at the Easter Festival in Salzburg. In the USA, she also appeared at the Chicago Opera. In 1973 she took over the role of Jennifer at the Staatstheater von Karlsruhe in the German premiere of the opera The Midsummer Marriage by M. Tippett.

Further stage roles of the Lieselotte Rebmann were the Ilia in W.A. Mozart's Idomeneo, Fiordiligi in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, Marzelline in L.v. Beethoven's Fidelio, Marschallin in Rosenkavalier, Luise in Der junge Lord by H.W. Henze, the Micaela in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Antonia in Hoffmanns Erzählungen, Gilda in Rigoletto, Luisa Miller in the Verdi opera of the same name, Mimi in La Bohème and Liu in Turandot by Puccini. In addition to her work on the opera stage, which ended in 1979 at the Stuttgarter Oper, she was an outstanding concert singer. In 1970 she sang in a performance of L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 under Herbert von Karajan in Osaka. She also had her success as an interpreter of Baroque music and in works by J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel, W.A. Mozart and Bruckner.
