Joanna Radziszewska (Soprano)

Born: Kraków, Poland

The Polish lyric-coloratura soprano, Joanna Radziszewska-Sojka, graduated with honours from the Akademia Muzyczna in Cracow, Poland (2009-2014). In 2016-2017 she studied singing at the Department of Early Music in the Hochschule für Künste Bremen in the class of Peter Kooij and Katharina Rössner-Stütz. She is prize winner of 3rd International Early Music Vocal Competition “Canticum Gaudium” in Poznań, Poland. She won a distinction at the 4th International Competition of Solo Sacred Singing “Ars et gloria” in Katowice, Poland.

Since 206, Joanna Radziszewska performs in Poland and abroad, performing works from the Renaissance to film music. She performed with Sinfonietta Cracovia, {oh!} Orkiestra Historyczna, Capella Cracoviensis, Wrocław Baroque Orchestra, Baroque Collegium 1685, Harmonia Sacra, Weser-Renaissance Bremen, Ensemble Mare Nostrum. She had the opportunity to perform under the baton of such outstanding conductors as Joshua Rifkin, Marc Minkowski, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Vincent Dumestr, Dirk Vermeulen, Dirk Brossé.

An important place in the repertoire of Joanna Radziszewska is occupied by the following parts: W.A. Mozart – Queen of the Night, Ismene, Zerlina, Susanna; G. Donizetti – Norina; V. Bellini – Elvira (I Purytani), Amina (Sleepwalker); Charles Gounod – Julia (Romeo and Juliet) ; R. Strauss – Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos); J. Strauss – Adela; J. Offenbach – Olimpia, George Frideric Handel – Morgana from Alcina, Dalinda from Ariodante, Dorinda from Orlando, Galatea from Acis and Galatea as well as oratorios (e.g. Schöpfung, Jahreszeiten, Carmina Burana) and songs. She has performed with a repertoire of film music. She performed, among others: Vocalise from the movie The Ninth Gate by Wojciech Kilar, solo fragments from the soundtracks from Lord of the Rings, Tytus Andronicus, Gladiator, Inception, Princess Mononoke.

So far, Joanna Radziszewska has performed the following roles: Belinda in Dido and Aeneas by H. Purcell in Grand Theatre (Director: Paul Esswood), Poznań; Marzia in Johann Adolf Hasse's opera Arminio with {oh!} Orkiestra Historyczna; Megacle from Antonio Vivaldi's opera L’ Olimpiade conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini in Wrocław; Oenone in Jean Philippe Rameau's opera Hippolyte et Aricie by director Sjaron Minailo at the OPERA RARA festival; Michal in G.F. Handel's oratorio Saul, recorded under the direction of Agnieszka Żarska with the orchestra Musica Florea and the Baroque Collegium 1685; Konstanze in the Oriental adventure based on the W.A. Mozart's opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail KV 384 staged by the Warsaw Chamber Opera; Eurinda, the queen of Sicily from the opera by A. Stradella Moro per amore staged in the Roman theater Palazzo Altemps, conducted by Andrea De Carlo; Nina in Il giovedi grasso by G. Donizetti and Serafina in Il campanello by G. Donizetti at the Warsaw Chamber Opera; Cleone/ Une Ombre Hereuse/ Une suivante d’Phebe w Castor et Pollux by J. Ph. Rameau director Deda C. Colonna, conducted by Benjamin Bayl at the Warsaw Chamber; Queen of the Night in the Piccolo Magic Flute at the Warsaw Chamber Opera.

Since 2009, Joanna Radziszewska a has been developing her interest in film music. She performed, among others Vocalise from the movie The Ninth Gate by Wojciech Kilar, solo fragments from the soundtracks to the movies Lord of the Rings, Tytus Andronicus, Gladiator, Inception, Princess Mononoke. By participating in nine editions of the Film Music Festival in Krakow where she performed film music coming out from many iconic film productions and often working with its composers and famous worldclass conductors.

In January 2021, Joanna Radziszewska's first solo album was released as part of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage scholarship, containing songs by the Polish composer Eugeniusz Pankiewicz “Songs unknown”.
