The American mezzo-soprano, Helen Raab, received her Bachelor degree in Education at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, and then went on to conentrarte on voice at the Julliard School of Music in New York, where she studied with Marion Szekely-Freschl.
After numerous concerts and recital appearances in American cities, Helen Raab made her New York debut in 1960 under the baton of Leonard Bernstein., with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. That she might become an opera star was finally realised when she became recipient of the Titcomb Award in the Metrpolitan Opera National Council Competition. She went on to Europe and for several years in the early 1960's was a member of the Cologne Opera. |
