Magdalena Podkościelna (Soprano)

Born: February 24, ____ - Poland

After completing her diploma degree in flute in Gdańsk, Magdalena Podkościelna received her vocal training with a focus on Early Music from Peter Kooij, Emma Kirkby, Maria Cristina Kiehr, and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. In addition, she participated in numerous international vocal master-classes with artists including Monika Mauch, Jill Feldman, Claudia Caffagni, Susanne Rydén, and Nigel North.

The singer has always been fascinated by the music of the 14th to 18th centuries, which now forms a central focal point of her work. The Polish soprano performs with various musicians and ensembles, including Jordi Savall (Hespèrion XXI), Philippe Herreweghe, Roland Wilson (Musica Fiata), Manfred Cordes (Weser Renaissance), Lionel Meunier (Vox Luminis), Elina Albach (Continuum), the Telemannisches Chamber Orchestra Michaelstein, Alexander Schneider (Ensemble Polyharmonique), and Gianluca Capuano. She sings internationally in diverse concerts in Spain, Italy, Israel, Argentina, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, as well as at festivals and in opera, CD, radio, and TV productions. These include appearances at the Bachfest Leipzig, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Köthener Bach Festtage, the Handel Festival in Halle, the Goldberg Festival in Gdańsk, the Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles, and in Moscow, Graz, Barcelona, Madrid, Venice, Hamburg, the Michaelstein Monastery, and the "Trzy Baroki" Festival in Wrocław. In addition to numerous performances at home and abroad, her collaborations have also resulted in an impressive discography.

Magdalena Podkościelna is the founder and artistic director of the ensemble Concerto Reale. She also teaches courses on historical performance practice in Montepulciano at Palazzo Ricci.
