Luke Paulino (Counter-tenor)

Born: USA

The American counter-tenor, Luke Paulino, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Teacher Education Cum Laude from Fairfield University (2009-2013); and his Masters of Music degree in Contemporary Performance as a counter-tenor from the Manhattan School of Music (2018-2020), under the guidance of Lucy Shelton. During this period he was Recording Arts Assistant.

Luke Paulino is a New York-based musician performing solo and collaborative projects of eclectic styles and forms. Praised by New York Concert Review for being “capable of myriad colors and unfazed by any score, no matter how difficult”. He is also known for his powerful and seamless three octave vocal range, bridging the gap between tenor and counter-tenor, and mezzo. He has performed with numerous artists, composers, and organizations including Big Freedia, Sarah Kirkland Snider, George Lewis, Wadada Leo Smith, George Manahan, Ensemble Mise-En, Amber Evans, Saint John’s in the Village, Shrine and Parish Church of The Holy Innocents, The Strathemere Ensemble, Saint Paul’s Choir in Harvard Square, All Saints Ashmont Choir, Inti, Nief-Norf Summer Festival, Mikhael Tara Garver, Kennedy Davenport, Liars and Believers, and Frankie Symonds.

Luke Paulino is a recipient of the 2021 New Music USA Creator Development Fund, where he will be composing for and producing music videos based on text by Brennan Bogert. His ensemble “InfraSound” has also been awarded the The 2021 Dwight and Ursula Mamlok Prize for Interpreters of Contemporary Music and Chamber Music America’s 2021 Ensemble Forward Program.

Luke Paulino has also worked as Operations Manager (January 2015-Apr 2016) and Director of Marketing (May 2016-Jun 2018) at Common Sense Advisory (CSA Research); Streaming Video Coordinator (October 2018-April 2020) and Recording Arts Assistant (October 2018-May 2020) at Manhattan School of Music; Email Marketing Associate at Tough Mudder Inc (July 2019-Oct 2021); Email Marketing Analyst at JetBlue (since October 2021).
