The Belgian mezzo-soprano, Sandra Paelinck, obtained her Master of rts degree in Classical Singing from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp (2003-2008) under Stephanie Friede and refined her technique with Lubov Stuchevskaya (Vocal training) and Guy Joosten (Stage training). She attended master-classes/private lessons with: Eva Marton, Stephanie Friede, John Norris, Carol Yahr, Lucienne Van Deyck, Ayala Sicron, Udo Reinemann, Irwin Gage, Guy de Mey, Jard van Nes.
Early in her career, Sandra Paelinck appeared on Flemish television, with a recurring role as Angie in the soap opera Familie (2004-2005) and participation in singing-related programs such as Op zoek naar Maria (2009) and Eurosong Bizz (2004).
Sandra Paelinck is a known for her long-standing career as a chorus member and soloist with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, where she was a chorus member from 2006 and fixed mezzo-soprano from 2015 to 2023. Her operatic work includes solo appearances in productions such as Der Rosenkavalier (as one of the Adelige Waisen; Vlaamse Opera Antwerpen/Gent: December 2013-February 2014), the world premiere of Les Bienveillantes (as Hedwige) (Opera Vlaanderen: March-May 2019), De Speler (May-July 2018), Die lustige Witwe, Aladino e la lampada magica, and W.A. Mozart's Idomeneo (2015-2016). She also performed in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro (as Donna II) in 2023. She has also performed as a soloist in other opera settings, including Euridice in Orfeo e Euridice with Zomeropera Alden Biesen (May-June 2008) and Röschen in Engelbert Humperdinck's Dornröschen with Junge Kammeroper Köln (November 2008-January 2009). Her concert and oratorio repertoire features mezzo-soprano parts in Verdi's Requiem, J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion BWV 245, L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Choral Fantasy, Haydn's Nelson Mass, and Azucena in Il trovatore (in concert performances). Since January 2019, she sings alto with Vlaams Radiokoor (Director: Bart Van Reyn). |
