Katrin Müller (Soprano)

Born: Germany

The German soprano, Katrin Müller, began her vocal training with Bernhard Gärtner in Karlsruhe. She completed her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Köln with Professor Monica Pick-Hieronimi (Diploma & Concert-exam in Singing, Opera & Oratorio: 2000-2008) and at the Folkwang Universität der Künste with Kammersänger Professor Jan-Hendrik Rootering with distinction (Concert-exam in Singing: 2006-2008). She supplemented her studies with master classes with Edda Moser, Christoph Prégardien and Gabriele Schnaut, as well as the directors Igor Folwill, Michael Hampe and Christine Mielitz.

While still a student, Katrin Müller made her debut as the Countess in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Theater der Stadt Solingen and, in the following season, gave her voice and form to Agrippina in George Frideric Handel’s opera of the same name. She showed her versatility with roles such as Echo in Richard Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos and Alice Ford in Verdi's Falstaff. This was followed by Donna Anna in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni and Fiordiligi in W.A. Mozart's Cosi fan tutte at the Schlossfestspielen in Zwingenberg, with which she was able to express her special devotion to W.A. Mozart. In 2010 she was engaged as Violetta Valery in La Traviata at the Staatstheater Kassel.

Also during her diploma studies, Katrin Müller discovered her passion for conveying the joy of singing and began teaching. She was significantly influenced by the Alexander Technique method, which she studied in detail. Her field of work now extends from choral voice training to individual lessons with children, young people and adults to supporting young professionals as a singing coach. In addition, she successfully prepared several young singers for the entrance exam for singing studies.

Katrin Müller is open to new music, such as the successful WDR recording "Das Moses-Jahwe-Projekt", among others. with the speaker Christian Brückner.

Katrin Müller's concerts have led her, among other: to Berlin to the Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt and to Munich to the Prinzregententheater. Outside Germany she sang primarily in Spain at the Festival de Musica in Valencia and in the Palacio de la Congresos y de la Musica, Bilbao.

Katrin Müller is at home with a broad spectrum in the concert field. All important solo parts of the oratorio and choral symphonic literature, from the works of the Baroque masters J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel to the compositions of W.A. Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn and Johannes Brahms, to the Requiems of Verdi and Dvořák, are part of her repertoire. Among other things, she sang J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232 with the Barockorchester L'arpa festante München and Richard Strauss's Vier letzte Lieder with the Bochumer Philharmoniker. Through her concert activities, she works with conductors such as Marcus Creed, Mark Mast, Kord Michaelis, Michael Ostrzyga and Werner Pfaff.
