Dave Monaco (Tenor)

Born: March 13, 1996 - Brescia, Italy

The Italian tenor, Dave Monaco, began his singing studies in 2011 with the soprano Giovanna Collica. He took his first steps as a chorister making his debut with the Gran Coro Lirico Siciliano in Nabucco, Aida, Georges Bizet's Carmen, W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Rigoletto, Norma. Parallel to the lyrical path, he undertakes a pop path that would lead him to win several national singing competitions, including Il Cantagiro in 2013. After graduating from classical studies, in September 2015 he settled in Bologna and undertook singing studies with Fulvio Massa.

Between 2016 and 2018 Dave Monaco made his debut in Tosca and Pagliacci as Spoletta and Arlecchino, as solo tenor in Mozart's Requiem and Coronation Mass and in Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle. An accurate study path led him to graduate in 2018 in Disciplines of the Arts, Music and Entertainment at Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna (2015-2019) with a thesis on the "old" and "new" singing in the 19th century, focusing on singing in Rossini and in Verdi; supervisor Marco Beghelli. In May 2018 he was one of the winners of the International Competition ‘Giovani Talenti Per la Lirica, Premio Ettore Campogalliani’ with a quality jury chaired by Maestro Leone Magiera. In June 2018 he won the 'Mietta Sighele' Prize at the 25th Edition of the Riccardo Zandonai International Competition in Riva del Garda (TN).

In October 2018 Dave Monaco made his debut in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Duse, flanked by the famous baritone Bruno Praticò. Also in October he was invited to attend an important event at the Enzo Ferrari Museum, where he performed in a concert accompanied by Maestro Leone Magiera.

From November 2018 Dave Monaco joined the Young Artist Program of the Teatro Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, under the direction of Maestro Gianni Tangucci. In the Academy he perfected himself with masters of the caliber of Richard Barker, Leone Magiera, Bruno De Simone, Jessica Pratt, Giulio Zappa, Sonia Ganassi, Michele Errico, Michele D’Elia, Giacomo Prestia. In November 2018 he was Don Ramiro at the Teatro del Maggio in a selection of Cinderella, staged by Manu Lalli and conducted by Giuseppe La Malfa. In December 2018 he performed at the State Academic Chapel in St. Petersburg, representing the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. During the 82th Festival of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino he was Osburgo in Bellini's La Straniera conducted by Fabio Luisi and staged by Mateo Zoni and Basilio in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro conducted by Kristiina Poska and staged by Sonia Bergamasco. In July 2019 he made his debut in L'elisir damore at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, as the protagonist in the role of Nemorino, having excellent successes, with staged by Pier Francesco Maestrini and conducted by Fabrizio Maria Carminati. In October Leone Magiera selected him for his concert in the Sale Apollinee of Teatro la Fenice in Venice. Among his latest engagements, Puccini's Il Trittico at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, where he played Venditore di Canzonette in Il tabarro and Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, with staged by Denis Krief and conducted by Valerio Galli. Hae currently lives in Bologna, Italy.
