Laura Metzemacher (Soprano)

Born: April 10, 1995 - Germany

The German soprano, Laura Metzemacher, who grew up in the Ruhr area, began her musical career at the age of 10 with the instruments saxophone, piano and double-bass. After a voluntary social year with the WDR Rundfunkchor Köln (September 2014-2015), she decided in 2015 to study singing pedagogy/singing at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen (since October 2015). After two years of studying with Barbara Pfeffer, she switched to the tenor Wolfgang Klose, with whom she is still taking lessons today. She initiated there the modern fairy tale opera (Schneewittchen by M.F. Lange, UA 2011) in which she sang the title role. She is a scholarship holder of the Zonta Club Essen and sang at their gala evening for the second time in 2019. She received significant artistic and pedagogical impulses from Wolfgang Klose, Thomas Heyer, Judith Lindenbaum, Oliver Klöter and the conductors/accompanists René Lankeit and Martin Fratz.

Laura Metzemacher has appeared at concert evenings as well as in oratorios at home and abroad. Since October 2018 she has been a part-time singer in the Dortmunder Opernchor and since June 2019 she has been a soloist and voice coach at the Emmaus-Gemeinde Gelsenkirchen.

In addition to her solo work, Laura Metzemacher works as a voice coach for the Düsseldorfer Mädchenchor, the Mediziner-Chor Düsseldorf, Chorage Kirchhellen and Total Vokal in Dortmund, among others. Since June 2020 she has been the permanent voice coach of the Jugendmädchenchores der Chorakademie am Konzerthaus Dortmund (Director: Volker Hagemann).
