The Brazilian soprano, Regiane Martinez, studied opera singing with mezzo-soprano Lenice Prioli before entering the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP), where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree with a specialization in opera singing in the class of Martha Herr, an American soprano based in Brazil. In 2023, she completed the integrated artistic voice training (FIV) at the Centro de Estudos da Voz and, in 2016, lived in the USA, where she took the Alexander Technique course for musicians at the Juilliard School and participated in the Baroque Opera Workshop at Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY). During this period, she was a member of several New York vocal ensembles, such as Essential Voices of USA, the St. Ignatius of Loyola Choir, the New York Continuo Collective, and the Manhattan Chorale. With Nicolau de Figueiredo, a Brazilian harpsichordist and Professor at the Paris National Conservatory of Music and Dance, she attended the Early Music Workshop at the Escola Municipal de Música de São Paulo and took private lessons from 2014 to 2015. With Julianne Baird, in the USA, she worked at the Baroque Workshop at Queens College and took private lessons. Currently, she receives vocal guidance from baritone Francisco Campos and dedicates herself especially to early music.
Regiane Martinez worked as a vocal coach for the Voz Ativa Madrigal from 1997 to 2014 under the direction of Ricardo Barbosa de Souza. With the group, she recorded the CD's "Dominus: Música Sacra Brasileira dos Séculos XX e XXI" (Independent Production, 2007), "Natal e Paz - Canções Natalinas Tradicionais em Português" (Lua Discos, 2001), and "Spirituals: Negro Spirituals" (Independent Production, 2009). In partnership with harpsichordist Delphim Rezende Porto, she founded the São Paulo Schola Cantorum in 2017, a project focused on the performance and teaching of liturgical music, where she teaches vocal technique for sacred singing.
Since 2018, Regiane Martinez has been an Associate Professor at the NYSTA (New York Singing Teachers’ Association) and also teaches at the Academia de Música da OSESP.
In addition to several CD's of sacred or early music recorded, Regiane Martinez participated in various albums by the Coro da Osesp, such as "Canções do Brasil" (Biscoito Fino, 2010) and "Aylton Escobar: Obras para Coro" (Selo Digital Osesp, 2013), both conducted by Naomi Munakata, "José Maurício 250" (Selo Digital Osesp, 2017), under the direction of Valentina Peleggi and Carlos Alberto Figueiredo, "Heitor Villa-Lobos: Choral Transcriptions" (Naxos, 2019), under the baton of Valentina Peleggi, and "Rossini: Petite Messe Solenelle" (Selo Digital Osesp, 2023), under the direction of Thomas Blunt.
Regiane Martinez joined the Coro da Osesp in July 2001. Of the many moments experienced with the Coro da Osesp, she remembers with great emotion the Osesp's debut concerts at Carnegie Hall on October 14 and 15, 2022, when, under the direction of Marin Alsop, they presented a varied repertoire and the show Floresta Villa-Lobos, which combines 75 uninterrupted minutes of music with the projection of an immersive video portraying the richness of Brazilian flora and fauna. |
