Nelly Lee (Soprano)

Born: February 5, 1942 - Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic, USSR
Died: December 2, 2015 - Saint Petersburg, Russia

The Russian-born soprano of Korean descent, Nelly Lee [Russian: Нелли Ли], graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory.

Following her graduation, Nelly Lee began her career as an opera and chamber music singer. Her large repertoire encompasses Early Music, classical and modern Russian repertoire, and the avant-garde. She participated in numerous international music festivals; tours with many of the world’s leading conductors took her to France, Germany, England, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, and the USA. Many works have been written especially for Nelly Lee and premiered by her. She was awared Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation.
