Hélène Le Corre (Soprano)

Born: March 27, 1971 - France

The French soprano, Hélène Le Corre, began her musical and singing studies at the Maîtrise de Radio-France in Paris. She studied with Robert Dumé at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique (CNSM) in Paris, graduating with first prize. She also spent one year at the Vienna Musikhochschule as a student of Helena Lazarska.

Following her period of study in Vienna, Hélène Le Corre was engaged in 1996 as Pamina for the Mozart in Schönbrunn summer festival returning in 1997 for the same role. She also sang two productions for Wiener Kammeroper and made her début as Gretel in a new production of Hänsel und Gretel for the Landestheater Salzburg. In 1998 she joined the ensemble of Opéra National de Lyon where over the next four seasons she sang Pamina, Xenia in Boris Godunov, Sophie in Werther, Arbate in Mozart′s Mitridate (recorded for Decca), the title-role in Janacek′s The Cunning Little Vixen, Miss Wordsworth in Benjamin Britten′s Albert Herring, The Princess in L′Enfant et les sortilèges, and Nannetta in two productions of Falstaff.

Hélène Le Corre has sung at the Théâtre de la Monnaie Brussels in Zemlinsky′s Der Zwerg, at Opéra National du Rhin (Euridice in Gluck′s Orfeo ed Euridice and Titania in B. Britten′s Midsummer Night′s Dream - production by Robert Carsen), at Opéra de Nancy (Silvia in Haydn′s L′Isola Disabitata), at the Teatro Nacional Sao Carlos in Lisbon (Sophie in Graham Vick′s production of Massenet′s Werther), at Opéra de Bordeaux (Asteria in George Frideric Handel′s Tamerlano under Emmanuelle Haïm), at the Stadttheater Bern (Walter in Catalani′s La Wally in a staging by Renata Scotto), Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro in Avignon, Toulon, Tours and Massy and Pamina for the Aix-en-Provence and Edinburgh Festivals, as well as in Lisbon, Toulon, Lausanne, Venice and and Padua. For the Festival of La Chaise-Dieu she sang the part of Maddalena in a staged version of Antonio Caldara′s oratorio Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo.

In concert Hélène Le Corre appeared has sung the Berlioz Messe Solennelle with Fabio Luisi for the Berlioz Anniversary year in the Leipzig Gewandhaus, Mozart′s Requiem with Emmanuel Krivine (Orchestre National de Lyon), Mozart′s Mass in C minor at Opéra d′Avignon, Vol de Nuit by Luigi Dallapiccola with Marek Janowski (Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France) and programmes of French and Italian Baroque music with Les Talens Lyriques under the direction of Christophe Rousset. In recital she has given programmes of French song for the Festival "Autunno Musicale" in Como (Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, Henri Duparc) and for the Bibliothèque National de France in Paris. Her concert repertoire includes cantatas, masses and oratorios by J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel, Haydn and Mozart. She appeared in concert with the Orchestre Lyrique de Région Avignon-Provence singing Mozart′s Mass in c minor in Avigon and Sanary and performed the role of Titania in Purcell′s The Fairy Queen at the Landestheater Bregenz. She sang Tytania in B. Britten′s A Midsummer Night′s Dream at the Athens Festival 2008.

In recent seasons Hélène Le Corre appeared has been member of the ensemble of the Opera in Bern, where her appearances included role debuts as Antonia in Les Contes d´Hoffmann, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Adina in L´elisir d´amore, Blanche and Soeur Constance in Dialogues des Carmélites as well as the roles of Tytania in A Midsummer Night´s Dream, Gretel in Hänsel und Grete, the title role in Massenet′s Cendrillon, Gilda in Rigoletto, the Second Violin in the contemporary opera Prova d′Orchestra by Battistelli and Glauce in Cherubini′s Medea. She also sang Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at the Opéra de Monte Carlo and concerts with Bach cantatas in the Bach-Kantaten Abonnement-Zyklus at Wiener Konzerthaus under direction of Luca Pianca, with whom she also performed a programme of arias written for the court of Versailles.

Her recent and future engagements include the title role in G.F. Handel´s Semele in Bern, Soeur Constance Dialogues des Carmélites at the Opéra National de Bordeaux, a recording of Gluck´s Il Trionfo di Clelia for MDG Records which she also performed at the Linbury Studio Theatre of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, a production of G.F. Handel's Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno at the Stadttheater Bern and further concerts of Bach Cantatas in Bach-Kantaten Abonnement-Zyklus at Wiener Konzerthaus and a recital and concerts at the Opéra de Bordeaux.
