Christian Kotsis (Baritone)

Born: 1984 - Vienna, Austria

The Austrian baritone, Christian Kotsis, completed his Master of Arts with honours at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien in the class of Professor Adler, Professor Meier and Professor Nickler. Master-classes he joined with Professor Kahry and Maestro Alessandro Corbelli.

In 1994 Christian Kotsis made his stage debut at the Theater an der Wien as the little crown prince Rudolph in the musical Elisabeth before joining the Wiener Sängerknaben as an alto soloist. So he sang the Zweiter Knabe in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at the Wiener Staatsoper and participated in successful national and international tours of W.A. Mozart's musical comedy Bastien & Bastienne, in which he performed the role of Colas. Amongst other things he performed with Maestra Grossmann and Maestro Riccardo Muti during the 500-year-anniversary of the Wiener Sängerknaben. In February 2022 he sang with Balthasar-Neumann-Chor (Director: Thomas Hengelbrock) and in May 2022 with Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz).

Next to his wide repertoire of Lied & Oratorium Christian Kotsis has added roles such as Papageno in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Guglielmo in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, Don Alvaro in Il viaggio a Reims, Kilian in Freischütz, Scolari in Il mondo della luna, Feuerwehrmann in Biedermann und die Brandstifter. While he was on Tour in January 2015 he sang the role of Dr. Falke in Fledermaus in Germany and made his debut as Maestto in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni with the Greve opera academy and music festival in Italy. His leading roll as Guglielmo in W.A. Mozart's Cosi fan tutte was in spring 2017. In May 2018 he made another debut as Graf Boni in Die Csárdásfürstin in Bolzano (Italy). The J.S. Bach Concert-series in the USA with the Connecticut Chamber Orchestra are the most recent addition to his artistic career.
