The Kyrgyz soprano, Katharina Konradi, is the first soprano from Kyrgyzstan to have an international career as a lied, concert and opera singer. In 2009 she began her singing training with Julie Kaufmann in Berlin and subsequently completed her master’s degree in lied interpretation with Christiane Iven and Donald Sulzen at the Munich Academy of Music and Theatre. Attending master-classes by Helmut Deutsch and Klesie Kelly-Moog gave her career as a soprano further musical and artistic momentum. She won first prize in the German Music Competition in 2016.
Katharina Konradi made her operatic debut at the Munich Kammeroper. She debuted as Rosina in W.A. Mozart's La finta semplice at the UniT in Berlin and sang the title role in The Diary of Anne Frank at Theater Hof (October 2014-January 2015). In 2015, she became a member of the ensemble of the Hessen State Theatre in Wiesbaden for three years, Her first appearance on the there was as Juliette Vermont in the 2015 production of Der Graf von Luxemburg, followed by roles such as Gretel, Sandman and Dew Fairy in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, Morgana in George Frideric Handel's Alcina, Nannetta in Falstaff, a Maid in Elektra, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Pamina in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, First Niece in Benjamin Britten's Pete Grimes, Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and Woglinde in Rheingold and Götterdämmerung. Following her remarkable debut in Hamburg as Ännchen in Weber's Der Freischütz in October 2017, she became a permanent ensemble member at the Hamburg State Opera with the start of the 2018-2019 season. During the 2017-2018 season, she graced the stage as Zdenka in Arabella (March 2018) and Zerlina in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, and she now returns for the revival of the latter role. In December 2018, she made her debut as Zdenka in Arabella by Richard Strauss at the Semperoper in Dresden.
Since the autumn of 2018, Katharina Konradi has been supported by the BBC in the context of the two-year program New Generation Artist with various engagements and recordings in Great Britain. Winning the German Music Competition in 2016 already led to important concert engagements with renowned orchestras such as NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Tonhalle-Orchester Zurich, MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen as well as the Bayerischer Rundfunk Symphonieorchester and the Balthasar-Neumann Ensemble under conductors such as Thomas Hengelbrock, Manfred Honeck, Paavo Järvi, Kent Nagano and Daniel Harding.
In spring 2021 Katharina Konradi will make her debut as Sophie in the new production Der Rosenkavalier by R. Strauss (Staging: Barrie Kosky) at the Bavarian State Opera (Munich). In summer 2021 she will return to the Bayreuth Festival in the role of the Young Sheperd in Richard Wagners Tannhäuser (Staging: Tobias Kratzer). In the coming season (2021-2022) she will be the soprano soloist in W.A. Mozart's Mass in C-minor in Oslo (Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Klaus Mäkelä) and in Johannes Brahms` Ein Deutsches Requiem with Thomas Hengelbrock in Baden-Baden, followed by a tournee to Hamburg, Bremen, Salzburg, Freiburg, Dortmund, Brussels and Paris. Furthermore she can be heard among other things in W.A. Mozart's Requiem as well in Pittsburgh conducted by Manfred Honeck as with Antwerp Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Philippe Herreweghe. Together with Schumann-Quartett she will be guest in Madrid and Barcelona to perform the fifth string quartet by J. Widmann and songs by Robert Schumann arranged by A. Reimann.
Lied interpretation is a big passion of Katharina Konradi. In the meantime she has appeared with various programs for example at Schubertiada in Vilabertran, in Kölner Philharmonie and in the Wigmore Hall in London, where she will return to for another song recital in October 2020. Further performances will follow among others in Oxford Lieder Festival, at Schubertiade in Hohenems, Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and Boulez-Saal in Berlin. She appeared as a guest in the TV broadcast Stars of Tomorrow on arte hosted by Rolando Villazón and she took part in a film documentary about Clara Schumann (directed by Andreas Morell), which was screened for the first time in September 2019 on arte. |
