Dina König (Mezzo-soprano, Contralto)

Born: 1991 - Karaganda, Qaraghandy, Kazakhstan

The Kazakhstani mezzo-soprano/contralto, Dina König, had an extraordinary musical talent that was recognized early on. So so she received piano and violin lessons at the age of 9. She discovered her love of singing at the age of 16 and this love led her into a professional education, which she began in 2008 at the Berufsfachschule für Musik in Altötting with a major in singing with Sabine Schütz and finished in 2012 with excellence her studies there. Since September 2012, she studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in the class of Evelyn Tubb and Gerd Türk, where she successfully completed her Master of Music degree in summer 2015. She deepened various aspects of the her singing by attending various master-classes and workshops u.a. Andreas Scholl, Peter Kooy, Sara Mingardo, Emma Kirkby, Christine Schäfer, Ulrike Hofbauer, Anthony Rooley, Margreet Honig, and Alessandro de Marchi.

Dina König is currently developing an intense concert schedule in collaboration with well known ensembles and conductors such as La Cetra Barockorchester Basel, Balthasar-Neumann-Chor & Ensemble (Director: Thomas Hengelbrock), Musica Fiorita (Director: Daniela Dolci), Le Miroir de Musique, Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz), Salzburger Barockorchester, La Verdi Barocca Milano; Andrea Marcon, Václav Luks, Roland Böer, Pablo Valetti, Jordi Savall, Thomas Hengelbrock, Roberto Festa and Jörg-Andreas Bötticher and at internationaln Festivals, including Freunde alter Musik Basel, Utrecht Oude Musik Festival, and "J.S. Bach with the Salzburger Barockorchester and the Bach Orchester Fürstenfeldbruck. She is a permanent member of the La Cetra Vocalensemble under the direction of Andrea Marcon, with whom she participated in the Händelfestspiele in Halle and the opera Medée by Marc-Antoine Charpentier and other productions. She celebrated her theatrical debut in March 2015, at the age of 23, in the solo role of Holofernes under the direction of Andrea Marcon in the ballet production Juditha triumphans by A. Vivaldi at the Theater Basel. She also appeared in the opera L'Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi in the role of Messaggiera and Speranza.

In addition to the emphasis on early music, Dina König loves to move in contemporary music as well as in other styles such as the Middle Ages or the Renaissance. She does not want to commit herself to certain styles or periods as an open musical mind, and she enjoys living out this freedom in new projects, pieces and epochs in order to remain versatile and flexible.
