The Austrian conductor and organist, Stephan Kofler, studied at the Konservatorium von Innsbruck under the guidance of Reinhard Jaud; then he perfected his skills with Ton Koopman (Baroque music), Xavier Darasse, Michel Chapuis, Harald Vogel, Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Alfred Mitterhofer, Christopher Stembridge, Bert Matter and Sergio Vartolo.
Stephan Kofler has held concerts in Italy, Europe, Mexico, Argentina and the USA. After graduating from the Università Ca' Foscari Venezia, he has held seminars and conferences in Italy and abroad on Baroque practice, on the work of Antonio Vivaldi and on the organ works of Dietrich Buxtehude, Johann Pachelbel and Muffat. The latter has also become the subject of a CD for the Perpetuum
Mobile label. He has recorded for various radio and television stations (Radiotre, Rai, ORF, SRG, TV Azteca, Radio Nacional de Mexico).
Stephan Kofler is artistic director of the Max Reger Festival in Merano. In 2003, he co-founded with and Gianni Maraldi the Ensemble Meranbaroque, of which he is the Mausical Director. He currently teaches history of music and organ at the Gymme – high school in Merano. He currently lives in Merano, Italy. |
