Heidi Klein (Soprano)

Born: USA

The American soprano and voice instructor, Heidi Dietrich Klein, obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree: Double major-Music and Humanities from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona (1980-1985); and her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Indiana University Bloomington (1987-1990).

Heidi Klein has been self-emloyed soprano singer since August 1992. She is a performer of classical music of many genres. She works as both a solo performer and a professional choral singer. Her areas of specialty are the performance of early music (Renaissance and Baroque) as well as contemporary classical chamber music. She has been particularly dedicated to the interpretation of contemporary music and has premiered numerous compositions, many of which have been written expressly for her. The technical demands inherent to the performance of contemporary music have proven invaluable in her frequent interpretation of early music.

Hedi Klein has lectured and performed at music festivals nationally and abroad, most recently at the Victoria Bach Festival. She sings regularly in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex as a soloist, and with such ensembles as the Orpheus Chamber Singers (since January 2005), Orchestra of New Spain, Dallas Bach Society, Denton Bach Society, and the Dallas Arts District Chorale, serving as Soprano Artist in Residence in the latter (August 2010-December 2011). She was also Soprano Soloist at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Denton, Texas (June 1999-August 2012), and has performed and recorded with Dallas’ new music ensemble, Voices of Change.

Heidi Klein maintains an active private voice studio since August 1995. She has also served as Adjunct Instructor of Voice at University of North Texas in Denton (August 2004-Jun 2008); Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth (since January 2017); Texas Woman's University in Denton (since September 2017).

Heidi Klein has recorded with numerous area ensembles, and is featured on the following compact disc recordings: CEMIsonics: The Threshold of Sound; Music of SEAMUS, Volume 7; CDCM Computer Music Series Volume 39, Music from the University of North Texas CEMI; and with Voices of Change, The Chamber Music of David Dzubay.
