Jung-Mi Kim (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: 1984 - Seoul, South Korea

The Korean mezzo-soprano, Jung-Mi Kim (Korean: 김정미), studied voice at the Catholic University in Seoul. In 2001, she won 2nd Prize at the International Korea-America Competition in Seoul, and then 2nd Prize at the 2004 Joong-Ang Competition. She then chose to pursue her studies in Italy at the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome and took master-classes with William Matteuzzi at the Montefiore Festival and with Renato Bruson at the Accademia Chigiana in Sienna. During 2007-2009, she won several competitions in Italy, including 1st Prize at the Dino Caravita Competition in Fusignano, and 1st Prize at the Citta di Alcamo Competition. In 2009, she won 2nd Prize at the Concours de Genève International Music Competition.

Jung-Mi Kim regularly performs in concerts in Italy, Canada and Korea, with a preference for the Italian repertoire.
