The Korean tenor, Choong-Hee Bernardo Kim (AKA: Bernardo Kim; Korean: 김충희), graduated from Seoul National University's Department of Vocal Music and the same graduate school (with Professor Philip Kang); and graduated with Diploma from the Giobacino Forzano Academy in Orvieto, Italy (with Professor Lino Puglis), the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg-Augsburg Best Performer Program (2004-2006; with Professor Kammersänger Siegfried Jerusalem), and the Hochschule für Musik "Franz Liszt" Weimar Best Performer Program (2012-2013). He won prizes at competitions, including the La Voce Song Competition in Germany (March 2006), Hans Sachs Competition in Nürenberg, Germany (February 2006), German Opera Debut Competition on Augsburg (March 2006), Passau International Competition in Germany (April 2007), Swiss Opera Carmen Competition (February 2009), and the Hamburg Stolz Operetta Competition in Germany (March 2009).
Choong-Hee Kim made his European debut as Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. After that, he worked as an exclusive lead singer in Nürenberg (2005-2008), Osnabrück (2009-2011), Thuringia (2008-2013), Switzerland and St. Gallen in Switzerland (2005-2008). He also performed the operas La Traviata, Madame Butterfly, Georges Bizet's Carmen at European opera houses such as Greece and the Czech Republic. He has performed more than 700 opera performances with leading roles such as Werther, La Boheme, La Rondine, Cavalleria Rusticana, The Tales of Hoffman, Dmitri Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth, W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, and W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni. did. In Korea, she has played title roles in creative operas such as Cheon-Hee Choi's Yun Heung-shin, Hyun-Seok Choi's Nammyung Cho-sik, and Ho-Jun Lee's Sukju Sang-ryong.
In addition, Choong-Hee Kim has sung Verdi’s Requiem, W.A. Mozart's Requiem (Nürnberg, May 2008), Gustav Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde (Charikiv, Ukraine, September 2005), L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (Gera, in Altenburg, December 2008; Grosse Musiksaal in Basel, at Mosel Musikfestival in Trier, December 2009), Dvorak’s Stabat Mater (Bad Mergentheim, March 2007; Osnabrücker Dom, November 2009), J.S. Bach’s Johannes-Passion BWV 245 (Seoul, Korea, March 2016), George Frideric Handel's Messiah and Haydn's Creation of Heaven and Earth. etc., and won the Best Artist Award in Turingia, Germany in 2014.
Choong-Hee Kim is currently teacher at Int. Musikakademie Cantabile - IMC (since 2010) and Professor of music and vocal music at Pusan National University (since 2014), focusing on nurturing younger students.
